The True Sport Foundation was in attendance to voice its praise for the launch of the Fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes (FQSC) campaign “Roulez gagnants au naturel” (Ride to Win/Ride Clean). The campaign encourages sport participants to wear a patch to show their support for integrity, fair play and excellence.

“As declared members of the True Sport Movement, FQSC and its members are to be commended for their desire to have a positive effect on their community. This awareness program clearly identifies their belief in clean, fair and ethical sport.” said Mr. Doug MacQuarrie, Executive Director of the True Sport Foundation.

“The launch of ‘Roulez gagnants au naturel’ (Ride to Win/Ride Clean) is another exciting indication that the True Sport Movement is gaining momentum in Canada,” said Mr. MacQuarrie. “The driving force behind this movement are members such as FQSC who believe that the quality of sport is everyone’s responsibility.”

True Sport is a national movement of communities and groups across Canada working to ensure a positive, meaningful and enriching experience for all who participate in sport. It is based on the belief that good sport can help build lasting strengths in individuals, as well as healthy, vibrant communities and a more socially connected Canada.

FQSC joined the growing ranks of the True Sport Movement in February 2006 when it formally declared its commitment to uphold the True Sport principles. The number of True Sport members is growing daily.

“True Sport gives expression to the growing desire of Canadians to enjoy a sport experience driven by values,” said Mr. MacQuarrie. “The goal is to connect 2010 True Sport communities by 2010, signalling a new era for a values-driven sport system in Canada in time for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.”
