1. Describe.
In order to join True Sport, you need to get your school involved. True Sport is a social movement driven mainly by groups connected to sport in their community. Schools are an important part of the Movement. Often, a single person—like you—introduces their school to True Sport.
You can tell your school about True Sport in a few ways. You can send administrators, teachers, coaches, parents and students to this web site. You can print True Sport Principles and share them with your school council or other leadership body. You can show your administrators, physical education instructors, volunteer coaches and athletes the declaration certificate they will need to sign in order to join. If you wish, you can use one of these letters to tell others about True Sport—or you can do it in your own words.
2. Discuss.
Once you’ve given your school community members some information about True Sport, it’s time to get together and talk about whether you’re ready to commit to the True Sport Principles. This step is about more than just sending people a link or a print-out. It’s an opportunity to get together with the relevant people—your athletics association, your school council, your staff—and talk about the kind of sport you want to participate in, the principles you want to stand for, and the concrete actions your school can take to Live True Sport. Take some time to talk about what True Sport means to you and then sign the declaration certificate.
3. Declare.
Once your school has had their discussion and is ready to adhere to the True Sport Principles, you can complete your online declaration. This will activate your support of the True Sport Movement. It’s a moment to be proud of and you will get to share it with the rest of the members of the Movement.
As well your support of the Movement allows your school to get access to resource and display materials.
