Pat Fiacco

Regina Mayor Pat Fiacco was elected for a third term in October 2006. He has spent his entire life in Regina and is committed to promoting Regina as Canada’s greatest city.

The Mayor has been integral in revitalizing Regina’s downtown and inner city neighbourhoods. His dedication is evidenced by the development of the Regina Inner City Community Partnership which is a ground-breaking grass-roots organization focused on housing, crime & safety, and employment.

Mayor Fiacco is as tough on crime as he was on opponents in the boxing ring as a former Canadian Amateur Boxing champion and Olympic referee. He was instrumental in the formation of the Auto Theft Strategy, putting more officers on the street and moving the Regina Police Service to a 21st century crime reduction model. Regina’s crime rate has dropped by 25% over the last 5 years.

Mayor Fiacco applies the same iron determination he uses as an athlete to securing predictable revenue sharing and infrastructure funding for Regina. As the former Chair of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Big City Mayors’ Caucus, he helped lead the charge to secure the permanent transfer of a portion of the Federal Gas Tax to municipalities.
