What You Can Do Guide
There is a simple idea at the heart of True Sport:
GOOD sport can make a GREAT difference.
What You Can Do is an invitation for all Canadians to join together to ensure that sport lives up to its potential in their community. True Sport recognizes that the way we play together shapes how we live together. It is up to us to ensure that sport in our communities is providing a positive and enriching experience for everyone; that it is building good character and values in our children and youth; that it is founded on the core values of fairness, fun, inclusion and the pursuit of excellence.
What can you do?
There are countless ways that you can ensure that sport contributes to a healthy and vibrant community and we're sure that you are already doing some of the activities found in this guide. We developed this guide to inspire you to create ways to live the True Sport Principles in your community, facility, school, sport organization, team, league or event.
The ideas listed in this guide are not necessarily restricted to their individual categories. A school’s activities may help inspire a team or league so be sure to check out the ideas in all categories – you’ll be surprised at the number of things you have in common with other groups in your community.
We all have a role to play in helping sport live up to its potential - be inspired, be creative, and spark the discussion about how sport can be a positive force for good in your community.
