The Leyser Family (Lead- Peter Leyser): This will be Lora’s 11th year participating in the 10k, the only exception to a consecutive streak being a one-year hiatus shortly after the birth of our son Justin in 2005. I did run the 10k for about 5 years, but haven’t participated since 2005. This year, I’m very excited to share this experience and participate in the 2k with Justin. In our family, we believe strongly in the virtues of physical exercise and the True Sport principle of Stay Healthy. By continuing to expose our son to a variety of sports and physical activities, we hope to instill a passion for Justin to be physically active throughout his lifetime. The Johnston Family (Lead- Kyle Johnston) This is my first attempt at a run that is more than 5 minutes! With a mother, father, and sister who have completed numerous marathons, I figured I would use their support during my run and attempt the 10k! The power of True Sport will help push me to the finish, and any support would be greatly appreciated! Please visit the link below if you would like to support the Johnston’s! Tony Fiorentino This will be the second time I attempt to complete the half-marathon under two hours and the first time as a 50 year old... Turning 5-0 has definitely inspired me to run this year and the opportunity to make a difference and give back also motivates me. As a CCES employee of over 15 years and a True Sport advocate, I believe that I can reach my goals and with your support, cross that finish line stronger and faster. If you would like to support Tony with a donation to the True Sport Foundation, please go to: www.canadahelps.org/GivingPages/GivingPage.aspx?gpID=24006 |

Alex Bridal “True Sport has given me the motivation to run at the 2013 Ottawa Race Weekend, and I want to give the opportunity back to members of Canadian communities to have positive experiences through sport as I have.” |

Mary MacDonald Sport has always been a major part of my personal and professional life, and the values that True Sport embodies are something I very much support, value and promote in everything I do. At the start of 2013, I made it one of my goals to run a race in support of a cause that means a lot to me and to fundraise as my way of contributing to that. Ottawa Race Weekend has always been one of my favorite races and so combining the two as part of the True Sport Running Team was an opportunity I did not want to pass up. Kristen Cavanagh-Ray Having been a team sport athlete my whole life, I thought it would be challenging – not only physically, but mentally – to step away from my comfort zone of doing something where there was a team supporting me, to doing something where I only have myself to rely on and answer to. Little did I know that this would, in fact, become a team (office) effort. I do, however, still struggle on the weekends to get out there on my own! Why am I supporting True Sport? Well, aside from being the Program Coordinator for the True Sport Secretariat where we manage the Canadian Strategy for Ethical Sport, I believe that everyone deserves the right to a quality sport experience. Good sport has so much to offer and builds character that will contribute to the development of physical and mental strength for everyone who participates. Bryan McSorley “I’m running in the Ottawa half-marathon as a way to stay active and to challenge myself to achieve new heights and milestones in my personal athletic endeavors. I have the opportunity to raise funds for the True Sport Foundation in the process. I feel that by supporting True Sport I can help others begin the process of achieving new heights and milestones in their own athletic endeavors. This opportunity goes full circle for me and I hope to persuade you to make a small donation to the True Sport Foundation and community sport in Canada. Thank you!” Link: www.canadahelps.org/GivingPages/GivingPage.aspx?gpID=21941 |

Tony Giampietro My credo has always been to be “fit for life” no matter what it takes. Though I would love to attempt a longer distance, my knees aren’t what they used to be. What’s really important to me though is to always keep moving. As such, I’m running the 5K race this year and raising money to support the True Sport Foundation, seeing as fair and ethical sport has also been a life-long credo of mine. To help me meet my goal, please make a donation at: www.canadahelps.org/gp/21678 |

Doug Croskery "As a lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast, I have a keen awareness of how important it is to enjoy a quality sport experience that fosters accessibility, fairness, and most of all fun. I believe that The True Sport Foundation is an excellent organization that works hard toward promoting these principles. I am very pleased to be part of the True Sport Foundation team that will be running on their behalf at the 2013 Ottawa Race Weekend and I urge people to learn more about this great organization, and to consider a generous donation to support their sports and education programs."
