Winners of the 2015 True Sport Give-Back Challenge
(Ottawa, Ontario – November 23, 2015) – True Sport is proud to confirm the names of the 2015 True Sport Give-Back Challenge winners. Our esteemed judging panel – Mandy Bujold, 2015 PanAm Gold Medalist, Boxing; Scott Russell, CBC Sports; Elio Antunnes, ParticipACTION; and Karri Dawson, True Sport – had their work cut out for them. After tough deliberation, they narrowed the field of applicants to the following three winning stories:
- Hawk-ey Gives Back submitted by the Leitrim Minor Hockey Association, Leitrim, Ont.
- Pacers Pay it Forward submitted by the Regina Midget AA Pacers, Regina, Sask.
- Kingston Y Penguins Give-Back submitted by the Y Penguins Aquatic Club, Kingston, Ont.
“We were very impressed by the Give-Back submissions we received this year,” said Karri Dawson, Executive Director of the True Sport Foundation. “It’s amazing to see how good sport is making a great difference in unique ways all across the country. Sport groups rallied their communities to come together to do great things and demonstrate just how strong the power of sport really is.”
Winners of the True Sport Give-Back Challenge were announced on CBC’s live broadcast of RBC Sports Day in Canada on November 21. In recognition of Leitrim Minor Hockey Association’s inspiring give-back story, a special profile was included in the coverage.
RBC Sports Day in Canada is presented by ParticipACTION, CBC and True Sport.
